How does NetVizor work?
NetVizor was designed with ease of use in mind. It consists of two separate entities :
- The Client
The 'client' is what does the actual work within your network as it is installed on each machine. It handles the monitoring, filtering, and remote administration of the computers in the network. - The Viewer
The 'viewer' is what you, the administrator, would be using and ties you to all the computers in your network. View activities, archive logs, perform remote installations, create activity reports, and much more all remotely from your location. The viewer will enumerate all computers on your network with the client installed on them - including roving users throughout them. You only need to point and click on any computer or user to view activities of that particular computer or user. Install the viewer on your own machine and do everything from your own desktop without ever getting out of your chair.

Localized Log Storage
Localized Storage Mode (the default setting) stores logs locally on the computer being monitored. The Viewer can be used to view these logs from its central location - removing any footwork needed to view logs across the network. While this method uses less bandwidth than centralized storage, it does not offer archiving and roving user tracking that centralized log storage has. [view screenshot]
Centralized Log Storage
Centralized Log Storage will store all logs on a centralized server or computer on the network. Since no logs are stored locally on the computers, users cannot discover or stumble upon them. Also, storing all logs in one central location allows for easy archiving and backup. While this storage method uses bandwidth, it is minimal, and logs are much more secure and organized being in one location.
As with Localized Storage, this method requires no footwork as the Viewer allows you to point and click on any computer or user on your network - including roving users - from one central location. [view screenshot]
Centralized Monitoring of Multiple Subnets
Centralized Log Storage also allows for the logging of multiple subnets not directly accessible to the viewing computer by adding the log storage locations on the subnet gateway computers to the viewer. In the example below, all NetVizor clients store logs on a shared log storage location at the head of their subnet. The Viewer can then load all of these logs directly from each shared folder on the head subnet computers it has access to. [view screenshot]
Roving User Tracking
NetVizor has the ability to categorize individual users logged on your network along with the workstations logged. This is useful when users may use multiple computers throughout the day, but login to the network with the same username. With Centralized Log Storage in use, these roving users will be monitored and their logs stored under their username. You can see what they did at any time regardless of what workstation they may have been using or how many. [view screenshot]
Centralized Remote Administration
Central administration is another very important feature of NetVizor - perform remote security audits, remotely browse file systems of any computer on the network with the Client installed, and shutdown, restart, lockdown, and freeze any of them as well.
NetVizor's remote administration features allow all activity logs to be viewed remotely, as well as specific system information, such as open network ports, network connections, temporary internet histories, and much more. NetVizor gives the administrator the ability to remotely control what windows are open on the remote workstation, what applications are being used, and the option of actually viewing screenshots of the user's desktop in realtime. NetVizor can also show you a thumbnail screenshot of every workstation on your network in a tiled display - with a single click on any of them you can view the full size image of that computers desktop.
